About Charlie.

Charlie Davis is an illustrator whose work exudes quality. His images have a wonderful capacity to capture a moment in time, through human gestures and expressive shapes rich with texture. His illustrations tell emotive stories, be it a quiet moment of serenity or a dynamic sense of movement.

A keen observer of nature, architecture, people and their tales, he's always looking for inspiration. Beginning with a sketch on paper, he then works in Photoshop to refine the drawing. Lighting, atmosphere and texture are all carefully considered and worked into the final illustration.

Loved by advertising and editorial clients alike, Charlie's work has been used on billboards and book covers and everything in between. His impressive client list includes Fevertree, Rolls Royce, the NBA, Apple, Stella Artois, Schweppes, Tanqueray and many more.

Charlie's Process

Process: Step 1.

Using a monochromatic approach in Photoshop, Charlie looks to establish the overall composition and tonal range of the illustration. At this initial stage he aims to get across the atmosphere and help indicate the direction of light and shadows.

From this phase onwards colour is then introduced, and the shapes are further refined to create the finished artwork.
